    Legend El Carrao (Orinoquia Region)

The Legend of Colombia says that he was a plainsman who did not know fear and enjoyed danger. In the great plains many Colombian-Venezuelan years ago. There were 2 men with a lot of self-sufficiency in the powerful sabanera, two inseparable companions with the nicknames of Carrao and Mayalito.

Carrao was a man who did not know fear, he enjoyed danger, a friend of night roads, an expert on the plains, a magnificent rider, he tamed very strong wild horses and brave bulls. Carrao was happy, a sure man who would never fall off a cliff, his legs were to dominate those fierce steeds. Carrao felt pleasure in defying danger. A friend of the night roads, expert and extraordinary rider.

Mayalito, his friend, quite the opposite, was judicious, talented in his decisions, he knew that nature was not to be played with, this was a man of great character, like every plainsman, Mayalito gave his friend many warnings but he never listened to him. .

Carrao was a rebel, that's how he was born, one afternoon a terrible storm was announced, he went to the corral to tie the horse, he grabbed another spirited horse, saddled it, mounted the animal and said goodbye to Mayalito, in the midst of lightning and thunder he walked away into the darkness from the savannah never to return. And he left on the night when there was a storm and he never came back.

When Mayalito saw that his friend was not returning, he went to look for him in many places, especially those he liked to go to, he shouted, “Carraooo Carraooo.” Mayalito shortened his pace and in a flash of lightning he saw something that shone in the darkness, it was Carrao's metal brake shoes and he took them away.

Legend has it, Night after night he started looking for his friend, Mayalito never returned to his house, the savanna also swallowed him along with Carrao. Mayalito became a bird that produces a song at night, Carraoooo, Carraoooo, guess what the Carrao bird is called.
